The first generations of Scamans, Sam and Anne moved into Galley Hill Farm in the early 60s, and diversified into PYO soft fruit in 1979 and expanded into PYO Orchards in 1987. In 1995 the caravan site was opened. Since then, their son Ian and his wife Sandra have taken the over the reins and now run our thriving family business, which now includes glamping pods, livestock, liveries, and more.
Granddaughters Emily and Molly are the third generation of family to live at Galley Hill.
The Fruit
Pick Your Own soft fruits were the first adventure in creating the Farm you see today. In our field you can find Strawberries, Blackberries, Tayberries, Blackcurrants, Gooseberries, and more.
The Orchard
Having established the Pick Your Own soft fruits, Anne made the mistake of asking Sam to buy a pound of apples from Alford. On hearing the price, he decided it couldn’t be that difficult to grow apples… and with that, he planted an orchard!
We have tried different varieties over the years, but we are always led by three things: which apples grow well in our climate, which ones store well through our winters, and which ones you (our customers) want
Amongst the popular Bramley and classic James Grieve and Russet varieties, we also grow pears and pumpkins, which make The Orchard a truly beautiful place to spend lazy autumn days.
The Campsite
Our serene campsite is set amongst beautiful woodland. The secluded spot offers dappled shade in the summer and a sheltered idyll in Spring and Autumn. With minimal light pollution, the peaceful Lincolnshire nights are perfect for star-gazing.
In a small clearing behind the campsite, two cosy wooden homes can be seen through the trees. These are our new glamping pods, offering a unique level of luxury in a totally rural setting. Each has a double bed, en-suite wet room, sofa, kitchen-living area, and south-facing outdoor decking accessed through double French doors which let the morning sun stream in.
Our World
We love where we live, and we invite you to come and visit us with us to share some of what we have to offer.
Wolds
Our unique location at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB means we are close to both coast and country
Crystal clear chalk springs emerge where the chalk hills meet the gently undulating clay landscape of the Marshes, creating a lush green countryside with winding lanes and wide grass verges, decorated in the summer by plump trees and golden fields.
Wildlife
Plenty of wildlife lives with us on our farm – you might even catch a glimpse of a few of these animals during your stay!

Wood Carvings
When visiting, keep your eyes peeled for our fantastic wildlife wood carvings by local chainsaw sculptor Grev Bray. Grev gives a demonstration of his art each year at our Strawberry Fayre.
